Shortage and incompatible distribution of rainfall are important limitations to plant growth in arid regions. One of the ways to reduce this stress is using amendment materials for soil. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of three types of soil amendment materials and irrigation intervals on growth characteristics of Seidlitziarosmarinus. All data were statistically analyzed using the three factor factorial experiment and completely randomized design. The treatments mean were compared using Duncan's multiple range test. We considered three levels of irrigation (4, 8 and 10 days), and three levels for each of the materials (0, 1 and 3 gr/L of Stockosorb, 0, 10 and 15 wt% of Zeolite and 0, 0/05 and 0/07 wt% of Anionic polyelectrolyte). The results showed that, apart from the negative impact of Stockosorb superabsorbent on germination percentage, all three materials had a positive impact on growth characteristicsofSeidlitziarosmarinusanddecreased the drought stress. Most growth indicators ofSeidlitziarosmarinusin 10 wt% zeolite, 1 gr/L Stockosorb and 0/07 wt% Anionic polyelectrolyte with 8 days irrigation treatments were not significantly different in comparison with the control (soil without amendments) with 4 days irrigation. According to the positive impact on plant growth characteristics, natural abundance in Iran, easy extraction procedure and the low price of Clinoptilolite, use of this mineral is considered effective in reducing drought stress during growth processes of plants in drylands.
